Ranch Camp $475.   Tuesday – Thursday – 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. Ages 7-15.

Ridge Riders Adventure Camp $625.  Tuesday & Wednesday 9-4 Thursday 9 am overnight to Friday at 1 pm

Summer day camps at the ranch are a great way for your child to spend time away from electronics.

Our day camps offer an unforgettable experience based around trail riding and horsemanship.

Interacting with the working ranch offers kids opportunities to learn new skills, ride horses and make friendships which all increase personal growth and confidence.

As they put their hands to new tasks they may be inspired and & find passions they didn’t know that they had.

Campers may participate in activities that include gardening, archery, crafts, cooking, jamming, and of course riding and caring for horses.

Trail rides

Trail Rides are the center of our summer day camps, but your camper will learn everything from horse anatomy and care, to barn and stable upkeep, tack, and saddle care.

They will participate in small group riding lessons and trail rides. Sunderland Ranch has a full-sized outdoor arena and round pen where we teach skill sessions and play games.

Lessons are level appropriate to each group’s skill and age. We keep a nice balance between learning and play.

Riding Lessons

Signing up for additional lessons will help your child to continue growing confidence. Campers will also enjoy arena games and trail rides throughout the week.

Feeding Animals

Campers at our summer day camps will learn about feed sources for our ranch horses and stock.

Learning the importance of proper nutrition, caring for our barn and tack are strong elements of our camp.

We believe in educating young people about all parts of owning a horse and other farm animals. Youth will have the opportunity to help feed the horses on the ranch.

Gardening & Cooking

Youth spend time in the garden learning about soil nutrition importance of composting.

During Alaska’s abundant growing season, we will focus on different crops some of which include broccoli, zucchini, cabbage, kale, and snap peas (my favorite).

Our farm favorites are in the berry patch where we grow two kinds of raspberries, strawberries, rhubarb, crab apples, and blueberries.

Our cookhouse segment teaches youth how to make jam, raise bread from scratch and make butter to share or bring home.

The cookhouse is a great place to meet, chat, and have lunch together during the day. Our cookhouse chef is an incredible teacher and focuses on health and nutrition.

About KB Equestrian:  Passionate about helping riders with their horses, and horses with their riders

It wasn’t until I was in my early 20s that I got involved with the sport of dressage.

As a young rider, many of the local dressage trainers did not seem very welcoming to me, and often I would reach out and never hear back.

This, unfortunately, halted my desire to perusing dressage, but then I met Patrick King of Patrick King Horsemanship and found my way into the sport.

I then became his apprentice and dedicated my career to dressage. Within the first two years of riding dressage, I earned my Bronze Medal with my beloved horse Winters.

Within the first four years, I earned my Silver Medal aboard my partner Cedric. We are currently still showing at the FEI level.

It is my mission to provide high-quality dressage instruction to all ages, abilities, and disciplines.

I am often helping many hunt seat riders fine-tune their skills with the use of dressage, and it is a very fun process!

Camp Dovewood

A typical day at Camp Dovewood often begins at 7:00 AM, where each girl gets to help their cabin get organized for the day.

Following this, all the campers come to the chapel for songs and skits performed by individual cabins. At 8:00, the girls eat an amazing breakfast with a variety of selections.

Following breakfast, each camper heads off to complete four of their seven pre-selected activities.

Camp Dovewood offers two dozen fun-filled camp activities to select from including horseback riding, gymnastics, cheerleading, and more!

The activity time runs from after breakfast until 12:30 PM when campers break for lunch. Again, there is an awesome selection for each and every camper to dine on.

After a rest hour, the campers complete the remaining three of their activities.

Dinner usually begins at 6:00 PM, along with a fun-filled night of talent shows, skits, and other assorted activities. The younger girls have lights out at 9:30 PM; the older girls at 10:00 PM.

On Wednesdays and Saturdays, we deviate from normal activities and do group-wide activities. There are trail rides, river rafting, recreational swimming, and great fellowship.

There is no other summer Christian camp for girls, nor one which has an incredible equestrian program, like Camp Dovewood.

For more information on our camp and activities schedule, contact Camp Dovewood at 386-935-0863, or email campdovewood@windstream.net.

Debbie Grahl, affectionately known as Miss Deb, has been Malachi’s camp director since the summer of 2001.

She has developed a program for Junior Equestrians that is safe, educational, and fun.

The campers leave with knowledge of all phases of horsemanship, from ground and mounted safety, total horse care, horse psychology, and of course English riding fundamentals.

Every session is comprised of non-stop, hands-on, and age/skill-appropriate activities. New campers will learn the fundamentals of riding and tack, grooming, and more.

Advanced campers will sharpen their riding skills and learn specifics within conformation, anatomy, tack function, health, and nutrition as well as learning proper leg support wraps and emergency horse care.

We are grateful to have Miss Deb as a part of our staff and parents have expressed the same appreciation for the individual, loving care she extends to each child.

In addition, the well-rounded recreational program includes eco-education, swimming, canoeing, crafts, pottery, archery, theater and dance, and group games.

Gymkhanas, horse shows and an awards session conclude each session. Ranchers from 8-17 years of age are eligible and enrollment is limited to 50.

Ellenwood Equestrian Center

The day begins with the morning chores, where the kids are in groups with a helper and participate in all of the daily workings of the running of a horse farm.

After that, there is snack time, then active games like cops and robbers (a camp tradition and favorite) or capture the flag.

Then it is lunchtime, followed by horse time. Each day all campers groom, tack up, and have a riding lesson.

While one group has their ride time the other groups are taken to the activity area, where they can swing on the rope swing, or play basketball.

When all the groups have finished their lessons we end the day at the swimming pool. On Friday of each week, there is a camp show promptly at 2:30, where the children ride for their parents showing off their new skills.

Castle Rock Ranch

Castle Rock Ranch offers a traditional camp experience that is tailored to all-around horses.

Not only are there horseback activities, but many other fun things to do like homesteading, crafts, taking part in chores, and going to the river.

Horseback Riding

All our campers learn to saddle, groom, care for and ride horses.

There are two riding activity periods during the day and morning and evening chores also include opportunities to feed and interact with the horses.

We provide a safe opportunity to ride and have a variety of horses from mild-mannered enough for novice riders to more responsive and athletic horses who are fun for riders with experience.

Depending on skill and comfort level, campers will have the opportunity to experience:

CATTLE DRIVES

Every week, we move the cows from one end of the ranch to the other and use riders to assist.

As part of our management intensive grazing and low-stress livestock management, we also use horses to drive the cows up the hillside bordering the ranch to graze.

TRAIL RIDES

Enjoy stunning scenery and views along trails in the Idaho Panhandle National Forest, where opportunities to see wildlife abound.

Trail ride around the perimeter of the ranch, along the beautiful Coeur D’Alene River, or on one of the many trails through the National Forest bordering the ranch.

When it’s hot, we take the horses for a dip in the river, and some of them even like to swim!

PASTURE RIDING

Our 40 acres of hay and cattle pastures have a circumference of over a mile and provide another scenic and fun place for riders.

Saddle up your pony and enjoy chasing the cows to their next grazing site when it’s time to rotate them to a new pasture.

Or just listen to the soothing sound of the river as you ride alongside it.

The pasture is also where we set up a small jump course to practice jumping logs and poles and barrels where everyone can practice barrel racing and pole-bending.

ROUND PEN RIDING

This is a great way to get introduced to horses in a safe and enclosed environment, or to simply work on equitation skills.

Everyone starts in the round pen to do a skills test to assess ability and be matched with a horse.

Tamahay Day Camp For Girls

Tamahay owns and maintains a herd of approximately 25 horses year-round. Many of them have lived their entire lives at camp.

Owning our horses allows us to know each horse’s personality, so we can match a camper’s ability level to an appropriate horse.

We also know which horses get along with each other on the trail, which is important for trail safety, especially with beginning riders.

Campers have the opportunity to ride every day, and each girl learns to groom, saddle, and bridle her own horse.

Our experienced instructors teach western riding skills, beginning in a fenced arena.

When campers feel comfortable on their horses, the instructors accompany them on trail rides through the pastures and wooded areas around camp.

Girls have the opportunity to ride different horses during the camp session, rather than being assigned just one horse for two weeks.

Riding helmets are provided, and girls are required to wear them when riding. Long pants and sturdy boots with at least a one-inch heel are also required for safety reasons.

For campers who think they might want to have their own horses someday, our curriculum offers the opportunity to learn how to be a good owner.

Girls learn about different horse breeds and colors, as well as how to care for a horse properly.

How to choose a good horse, basic veterinary and hoof care, proper feeding techniques, and caring for tack are all important topics to explore before taking on the responsibility of owning a horse.

New Hampshire Horse Riding Summer Camps

High Meadows Farms Summer Day Camp

Each week at our horseback riding summer day camp in New Hampshire focuses on a theme.

We have designed a program consisting of five Levels in which the campers learn about proper horsemanship and develop their riding skills.

Also, they will study horse terminology, history, first aid, and more!

On the first day of camp, each camper receives a notebook containing all the information they need to learn in order to complete the first level.

Both riding and horsemanship goals are set and throughout the week the campers practice and study their skills through games and hands-on experiences.

Each camper is assigned a horse of their own for the week.

The camper is responsible for the general care of their horse such as grooming, tacking, bathing, watering, and preparing meals as well as other elements involved in horse ownership.

On Friday afternoon, the campers present to parents and relatives a riding show to music that they have designed to demonstrate what they learned during the week.

Following the show is a graduation and goodbye ceremony.

International Riding Camp

Summer Riding Camp for Girls Ages 7-17 — The Only Horse Camp in the U.S. to Offer 6 Hours of Riding Daily.

Welcome to a Unique Equestrian Camp Experience!

INTERNATIONAL RIDING CAMP was established in 1978 for girls 7-17, who love horses and riding.

Our campers come from all over the United States and abroad to ride and learn in our beautiful Catskill Mountain location.

Students from as far away as Hawaii, other parts of the U.S., and overseas come every summer to enjoy all that our riding camp provides.

International Riding Camp is the ultimate experience for horse lovers, featuring a full range of English riding disciplines, including hunt seat equitation, cross-country jumping, and polo.

We offer a well-rounded equestrian camp program along with water skiing, jet skiing,  tennis, swimming, and arts and crafts.

The camp fee includes 3 hours of riding daily with an option to ride for 6 hours a day.

We limit our class sizes to a maximum of 5 students, and our campers ride in one of our three riding rings, on cross-country courses, or on trails.

Students must pass a riding skills test to go on the cross-country course or trail rides.

Our teaching techniques enable our students to experience success in graduate steps, promoting self-esteem and confidence.

Since all of our campers love horses, their common interest allows them to make new friends right away. There is a maximum of 45 campers in any session.

About half of the campers come from the New York metropolitan area; the rest come from across the United States, and from Europe, Asia, and South America.

Our campers make lasting friendships that continue many years after they leave. We are the only equestrian camp in the USA to offer air conditioning in each dormitory room.

Our English riding camp also offers riding during the winter at the El Venado Polo School in Pila, Argentina.

International Riding Camp is the only horse camp to offer an endless summer of riding.

ANNUAL 6-DAY YOUTH DRESSAGE CAMP

Madrone Hill Ranch offers opportunities to horse enthusiasts of all ages.

If someone is up against financial barriers, they have the option to help out at the ranch in exchange for riding lessons and, once they are established, various privileges.

We have a variety of people taking advantage of this program, including several youth. Horses offer many important life lessons as well as being incredibly therapeutic.

They help children (and adults) feel a sense of purpose, empowerment, discipline and responsibility, and teach them patience and understanding.

Most importantly, includes the lesson of considering others (ie. what drives different behaviors and how might that particular person or animal be feeling?)

Being involved with horses gets people outside and active as well.

Of course, we are also a business, as we do need to support our ranch in order to be able to provide these opportunities. We offer riding lessons as well as horse training.

This year we are putting on our annual 6-day Youth Dressage Camp, offered to our young students.

These students are focused, responsible, disciplined youngsters who have learned to handle and ride horses with tact, kindness, and subtlety.

This type of horsemanship, known as Dressage, is the equivalent to a serious musician taking piano lessons, or a serious dancer taking ballet as the best foundation in their subject of interest.

Here, amidst the natural beauty and tranquility of the Texas Hill Country, we combine in-depth, individualized riding instruction and unique recreational activities.

Our goal is to provide an environment of fun, encouragement, and camaraderie.

With a limit of only 12 campers per weekly session, and a student-to-instructor ratio of no greater than 3 to 1.

There is no better place for your camper to improve her horsemanship skills, whether Western or English.

A camper may bring her own horse at no additional charge, or she may be carefully matched with one of our ranch’s quiet, yet responsive horses.

There is no need for campers to share a horse.

In addition, to the instructional sessions, campers take daily trail rides through the beautiful countryside of our ranch, and in the adjoining 5500-acre Hill Country State Natural Area.

All campers are also responsible for the care and well-being of the horse they are riding throughout their stay.

Outside of our time with the horses, campers are treated to swimming, cook-outs, archery, horse decorating, crafts, and other recreational opportunities.

Our meals are tasty, ample, and nutritious.

Camp Wahoo is another camp I attended as a child that really stuck with me.

They offer, in essence, a trail riding camp program that allows campers to horseback ride up into the high mountains and camp overnight underneath the stars!

I will never forget the silly pony I rode and the amazing trails we went up.

On one side would be a hundred or so foot drop and beautiful scenery and the other would be looking directly up an impossibly tall mountain.

When we reached the top it was the most beautiful scenery I have ever seen.

We are all about enjoying the outdoors on horseback. For over 40 years High Country Outfitters has provided unparalleled mountain adventures.

Day Rides, Pack Trips, Kids Camp, and many other services. We offer traditional outfitters services in a rustic mountain environment.

Cougar Mountain Stables

Do you have a horse-crazy child, who has always wanted to learn how to ride?

Riding camp at Cougar Mountain Stables is a fun, educational, and rewarding experience that will promote responsibility, build character, and create memories that will last a lifetime!

Our program is horsemanship unique, emphasizing the special relationship between children and horses.

Everyone spends time grooming and caring for the horses from the ground and learning safe ground habits.  We ride primarily bareback, especially with beginner riders.

Children learn to ride much faster bareback, gain their balance more quickly, develop a closer relationship, and better communication with the horse.

Some say bareback riding can actually be safer without the trappings of tack to get tangled in and distracted by.

We do have a nice selection of Western/English saddles, and our more experienced riders will usually practice with saddles as well.
